Importance of playground in the life of modern day children

Authorities at BDMI, one of the top CBSE schools in Kolkata, believes that awareness about the importance of playgrounds in the lives of children should be there among both parents & schools. In fact, playgrounds play a very crucial role in the social, emotional, cognitive, as well as, physical well-being of children for their development process right from the stage of early childhood.

It is literally a natural tool for children to develop resiliency. By this process they learn to cooperate, overcome challenges, as well as, negotiate with others around them. Play helps children to be creative in nature. It even provides a solid platform to build a healthy parent-child relationship.

One does not need to survey things in order to find out that the amount of time children spend outdoors in playgrounds has rapidly decreased in the last few years.
As the obesity rate for children is consistently on the rise, it is important to encourage children to do regular exercise on a regular basis.

Playgrounds provide variety for children from their daily routine of school & home during their day. Younger children have much shorter attention spans, as a result of which playing is extremely necessary to develop that.

It is a myth that playgrounds are purely for the enjoyment of children. They will constantly be learning in the playground just like in a classroom, as they interact with other children.

Parents must allow their kids to play outdoors. They should be splashing in the mud. There is nothing wrong with that. Mud is a part of the environment and it is actually known to be good for health.

Providing children with an exciting playground environment actually stimulates their mind and allows in the process of cognitive development.

Due to these various advantages, a school must have a playground for children. Parks should also be developed with special areas designated & designed for the purpose of children’s playground.
